Performance Physical Therapy in Edmond, OK

Root Cause PT for Active Adults

Runners and athletes come to us when recurring pain keeps getting in the way of training. We dig into the root cause so you can move without pain, without fear, and without limits.

What Happens When You Keep Ignoring the Root Cause of Your Pain

The Pain Comes Back Every Time You Push

Rest and generic stretching may quiet the pain temporarily. But if the root cause is never identified, it will return the moment training volume picks back up.

Generic PT Left You Feeling Like You Were Just Going Through the Motions

High-volume clinics cycle through patients in 20-minute slots with aides doing most of the work. You got exercises — but nobody looked at how you actually move.

Fear of Re-Injury Is Holding You Back from Full Effort

Going back to training after injury should feel confident, not cautious. Without understanding the root cause, every return to sport carries the same risk it always did.

Common Conditions We Treat

Who Comes to The Movement Lab for Performance PT

We work with active adults and athletes dealing with pain that keeps getting in the way of training, sport, or daily movement. Here's what brings most people through our door:

Low Back, Neck, or Mid Back Pain — recurring stiffness or pain that limits training, lifting, or daily movement

Shoulder Pain or Rotator Cuff Issues — impingement, pain with pressing or reaching, or lingering ache after a shoulder injury

Hip Pain or FAI — deep hip pain or catching with squatting, running, or sport movements

Knee Pain, Meniscus Issues, or ACL Recovery — pain with training, lingering weakness, or a return-to-sport goal after surgery

Elbow Pain — tennis elbow, golfer's elbow, or overuse-related pain limiting training or daily activity

Ankle and Foot Pain — ankle sprains, achilles discomfort, or plantar issues limiting push-off and ground contact

Post-Surgery Rehab or Prehab — returning to full function after surgery, or preparing the body before a scheduled procedure

Overuse Injuries and Tendinopathies — pain that showed up gradually and hasn't fully resolved with rest

Frequently Asked Questions

We know cash-based PT raises questions. Here are the ones we hear most often.

Why isn't this covered by my insurance?

The Movement Lab is a cash-based, out-of-network clinic. We don't bill insurance directly — which is what allows us to spend a full hour with you, one-on-one, every session. If your plan includes out-of-network benefits, we can provide a superbill for possible reimbursement. We also accept HSA, FSA, Affirm, and CareCredit.

Do I need a physician referral to start?

No referral needed. Oklahoma law allows direct access to physical therapy for the first 30 days without a physician referral. You can book a free discovery call and get started without waiting on anyone else to clear you first.

How is this different from PT I've done before?

Most traditional PT clinics run high volume — 20-minute slots, multiple patients at a time, with aides doing most of the hands-on work. At The Movement Lab, you get a full hour, every session, with a Doctor of Physical Therapy. We run a full body movement analysis, identify the root cause of what's driving your pain, and address it hands-on at every visit.

How many sessions will I need?

That depends on what we find in your initial evaluation. Most patients start to notice meaningful change within the first few sessions once we've addressed the root cause. We'll give you a realistic picture of your plan — and your DPT will track progress objectively using force plate and dynamometer data.

What happens at my first appointment?

Your first visit is a 60-minute initial evaluation: a full medical history review, full body movement analysis, hands-on treatment targeting your immediate pain or limitation, and a personalized care plan. Before that, we offer a free 15-minute discovery call so you can ask questions and make sure we're the right fit.
